Before anybody asks - this is out of my head. It doesn't represent any specific place. Why it came out of head is what interests me though. I find cliffs fascinating. There's the color of the rocks, and how it's altered by the reflected light. There's the form of it with angular shapes and rounded shapes and stripes. There's also an emotional impact. They represent a challenge to climb and a danger. Cliffs are dramatic. |

| I sketched this scene looking East from the Northern approach to Mt. Townsend. A month later the same scene was entirely snowed in. Washington weather doesn't seem to follow the standard seasonal rules. |

| I just like the name "Goblins". I don't think I've applied it correctly to the formation I imagined here. Whatever, I've got an artistic license and I'm gonna use it. This is another gory exploration of rock chroma and form. |

This view is just SouthWest of Boulder, CO. It's an amazing example of river erosion cutting through solid Precambrian granite. This is an early rock painting, but you can start to see my interest in the details of the cliffs.

| Nature's palette is infinitely more diverse than the pigments on mine. When sun shines through the leaves in October the yellows and oranges are blindingly pure. It doesn't stop me from trying though.
