Grounded Chetzemoka Dinghy

Watercolor

7.5"x11"

10/2/2005

Original Painting $150

4"x6" Postcards $2.50 each

I painted this at Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend, WA. My friends Don and Jolene had joined me for a day of outdoor painting. It was a great day.

Pier and Reflections

Watercolor

9.5"x4"

Original Painting $65

More of a sketch than a finished painting, this was painted looking out the windows of the Pope Marine Building in Port Townsend Washington. I was fascinated by the extremes of value in the reflections and shadows.

Early Start

Watercolor

framed

9.5"x4"

Original Painting $150

They're motoring into the fog bank just after sunrise. This painting was chosen for the 2004 Small Expressions show.

Upwind

Watercolor

9.5"x4"

Original Painting $65

4"x6" Postcards $2.50 each

The secret of this painting is that it was intended to be a gift. When I finished it though, I thought it was too good to give away. More than that I'll never say.

Wildwood Flower

Original Not For Sale

18"x24" giclee $150

I painted this as a Christmas present for my father in 2003. It depicts his Island Trader 36' reaching north of the Quimper Peninsula in the Straits of Juan De Fuka. The original belongs to Dad but, I can print high quality reproductions up to 18"x24".

Deep Blue

acrylic

10-19-2003

26"x18"

STOLEN

I painted this from memories of the Rialto Beach area in Washington State. While on display at the Jefferson General Hospital it was stolen. Whoever has it, you owe me some money.

Sea Spray

Watercolor

6-5-2003

12"x16"

Original Painting $300

The colors in this painting are just right. I love moment of hard sunlight this captures. This was painted at Rialto Beach also.

Best Maritime Work presented by Port Townsend Art and Frame at the 2003 Jefferson County Fair.

Lush Green Sea Stack

Watercolor

6-4-2003

16"x12"

Original Painting $200

That green looks so soft, like a cool mossy bed you could sink into. Unfortunately it's an illusion. Up close the green is created by scratchy grasses. This was painted at Rialto Beach.

Mystery Bay

Watercolor

4-24-2003

16"x12"

Original Painting $200

The Madrone trees are reddish barked and tend to be twisted. They're fascinating because their color and shape are suggestive of skin and muscle.

Kala Point Fishers

Watercolor

3-14-2003

16"x12"

Original Painting $200

The fishermen are solid and unmoving. The world is still here. This is from Summer.

Point Hudson

Watercolor

12-15-2002

15"x11"

Original Painting $200

The contrast between the little white houses and the dark hillside intrigued me. The background is undefined, dark, mysterious the foreground is flat, controlled, artificial. Everywhere we surround ourselves with little white houses. I suggest the chaotic is eternal and our houses are dust.

Singlehand

Watercolor

12-1-2002

30"x22"

framed

Original Painting $900

4"x6" Postcards $2.50 each

The landscape is inspired by the views south of Port Townsend, WA. The boat is reminiscent of a vessel I saw on the water. The real drama is in the water. It is constant movement and infinite facets reflecting. This painting's currently on display at the Jefferson General Hospital.

Award of Merit at the 2003 Sequim Juried Art Show

Point Wilson Light

Watercolor

16"x12"

Original Painting $200

The Point Wilson light is the way a light house should be. It has a great setting and a cute construction. We used this image on our family christmas cards.

Port Townsend From the Water

Watercolor

7-2001

10.5"x7.5"

Original Painting $100

The view of Port Townsend from a boat sailing by. This town is at least as interesting from the water as from a car, maybe more.
